Christmas Lights
Launched by the Amenity Trust, in association with CnES, in December 1998, the annual switch-on of the Chruistmas Lights and the associated music and singing have become a new tradition for the town. Thousands of people gather in the centre of the town for the event at the start of December and many shops open late that evening to cater for the crowds. The event and the lighst throughout the town centre are principally funded by CnES but managed and organised by the Amenity Trust.
