Tenancy of the Mill over the years:
1828-John Buchanan: rent- £112 per annum
1829 - William Latta: rent - £60 per annum
1832- William Latta: rent -£85 per annum
1837-1851- William Latta: rent-£60 per annum

William Latta and his representatives continued tenancy until 1851.

1853 - John Maclennan rent - £60 per annum
1870 - John MacLennan granted 19 year lease rent - £70 per annum
1886 - John MacLennan rent reduced to £60 per annum

The Stornoway/Latta's Mill was destroyed by fire on 28th February 1890.

Following the destruction of the mill, Lady Matheson granted a charter in 1893 permitting the construction of a mill at Garrabost. During the interim, the milling was all done at the mill in Gress, the remains of which can still be seen.

The Garrabost Mill was operated by the following:
